Not so short: YouTube has announced a major change to their Shorts.

On Oct. 15 YouTube will allow users to upload three-minute Shorts, an increase from the 60-second limit. According to the social media platform, longer Shorts was a top requested feature by creators.

Why is this such a big deal? For staters (and this might be the biggest reason!), it will be easier to cross-post videos across TikTok and Shorts. TikTok has a 10-minute limit, while its other competitor Instagram Reels has a 90-second limit.

If you’re not using YouTube or Shorts, now is a great time to dive in! Post your Instagram Reels and TikTok videos also on Shorts to see what happens. It can’t be all that bad when you post content on what is currently the second-largest search engine (second to, of course, Google).
